Rotary Club of Elberton Works in Community

The Rotary Club of Elberton and its board approved to work in partnership with a local organization, KECB (Keep Elbert County Beautiful). This is good exposure for the club to project Rotary’s role in community service.

The Club agreed to adopt a one mile highway to be cleaned up every three months. The club was allotted the strip of Mineral Springs road and Fleming Road for clean up.

Fifteen Rotarians and a few spouses eagerly met at the parking lot of Mollertech, an industrial plant, at 7:30 in the morning. One of our Rotarians, Steve Jordan who is the manager of the plant, allowed us to assemble in its parking lot. Breakfast of biscuits and coffee was provided by two of the Rotarians on the chilly morning.

Trash Bags and gloves were provided by two KECB volunteers who met up with club. It turned out to be a fun morning. The club members ended up picking 420 pounds of trash. It took about three hours to get done.

Another pickup is scheduled in three months.
